3 STEPS TO PrEP

Done your research and ready to get started on PrEP? Here's a practical guide on getting PrEP in 3 easy steps, with links to resources in Toronto and across Ontario.

1. See a doctor

Make an appointment with your doctor to talk about going on PrEP and get tested.

Your doctor will consult with you and ask you to get some blood tests to make sure you are a good candidate for PrEP.  You may be asked detailed questions about your sex life and medical history. Don't worry! Answer honestly and fully so that your doctor has the info they need to make sure PrEP is right for you. If you're not sure, check out this info page on PrEP.

As of November 2017, the Canadian Medical Association published guidelines for medical doctors across Canada, on PrEP and how to prescribe it. So, all doctors including your regular family physician, have the right info to prescribe PrEP and monitor your progress.
